About This One-of-a-Kind Textile Artwork
Originally created for a poetry anthology, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork explores the heartbreak of a relationship ending: love that never quite reaches the person it was intended for, and the tears that follow. Sue calls it “Your Heart Will Heal”, offering a gentle sense of hope within a deeply personal piece.
Against a rich crimson background, red and blue hearts sit among falling teardrops. Sue used red silk and hand-dyed white silk, bringing texture and movement to the composition through hand-stitching, embroidery, beading and appliqué. Crystals catch the light like sparkling tears, while freshwater pearls symbolise purity, innocence and new beginnings.
Look closely to discover the gold-thread outline around the large red heart, softly patterned blue hearts and fine curling threads. Each detail contributes to a story that Sue found emotional to tell, sometimes becoming upset herself as she worked.
Presented in a white mount and frame, this original textile artwork offers a thoughtful reflection on love, loss and the possibility of beginning again. A personal piece to live with, or a meaningful gift for someone who finds comfort in its message: your heart will heal.
