A breathtaking original textile artwork bursting with botanical wonder. This one-of-a-kind piece features a richly layered composition of hand-applied fabric blooms in deep teal, ocean blue, dusty purple, and warm gold — each petal and leaf individually cut, placed, and stitched by hand.
Blue and turquoise are among Sue’s favourite colours, and they lead this botanical textile artwork. Painted silk forms the background, layered with glass beads, freshwater pearls and other painted pieces of silk. Together, the materials create a richly textured surface for the botanical forms.
The background is a softly painted aqua and ivory textile canvas with a subtle woven texture, giving the whole piece an ethereal, watercolour-like quality. Delicate embroidered spirals and tiny white bead clusters are scattered throughout, adding depth and movement.
